It’s hard to give people helpful suggestions in a hypothetical world.
The real world is easier. Take a common (and frankly tired) debate: front squats vs. back squats? Which side am I on? It’s not that simple. My answer sounds something like, “It depends…but actually, neither are right for you.”
Why not?
“Because your squat sucks, and you have no goal.”
Ouch, right? Well, for too many people it’s true. This isn’t my list of “10 reasons you should ____ squat.” All variations of the front (and back) squat are great for the right person, in the right stage of training, with an appropriate goal.
Oh, now you want to talk about goals? Great. That’s a better place to focus for now.
